Hello! I'm Beth McNeill, a high school math and science tutor based in the Bay Area. With a Master's in Education, a degree in Chemical Engineering, and recent classroom teaching experience, I help students build confidence and master challenging material.
I specialize in high school courses from Algebra through AP Calculus, plus Chemistry and Honors Chemistry, and SAT/ACT test prep.

SAT Math Prep

I offer SAT Math prep for small groups of two to four students, plus one-on-one. Groups work well because students at a similar level push each other, and the per-student cost drops.Rather than running a fixed curriculum, I start from a full practice test and build around what each student is actually losing points on.What's included:Diagnostic review of a full practice test
Comprehensive review of SAT Math topics
Practice with real SAT questions
Test-taking strategies and time management

Experience That Makes a Difference

I bring a unique combination of expertise to tutoring: a Master's in Education from Alder Graduate School of Education, a degree in Chemical Engineering, and hands-on high school teaching experience.
Last year, I taught high school math and science in the classroom, which gave me deep insight into current curriculum and what students need to succeed. I understand the challenges students face because I've been working with them directly.
Before teaching, I spent 15 years in the tech industry as a software developer and manager. This real-world experience helps me show students how math and science connect to careers and everyday problem-solving.
My Teaching Philosophy
What I love most about tutoring is helping students have those "aha!" moments when challenging concepts finally click. I create a supportive, patient environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and taking intellectual risks.
I believe every student can succeed in math and science with the right support and approach. My goal isn't just to help students pass their next test—it's to build lasting confidence and problem-solving skills they'll use throughout their lives.

Group Sessions

2 students: $175 total ($87.50/student)
3 students: $225 total ($75/student)
